Hey Buddy, are you “planning a trip to Switzerland, the home of chocolate?
A tour of the Lindt Home of Chocolate covers every part of this Swiss treasure.
It includes the world’s largest chocolate factory, stretching over 500 m2, and a huge 9-meter chocolate fountain.
How to make your way there
Journey by boat
The easy way to go to the Lindt chocolate factory is a boat trip from Zurich Bürkliplatz to Kilchberg. The boat online ticket and schedule time are available on the website.
There are two boats that go in different directions. You can choose to take the longer ride along the Gold Coast (east side) of Lake Zurich or the shorter ride along the Silver Coast (west side). Either way, you will need to get off in Kilchberg.
Journey by Train
If you wish to travel by train, you can take train number S8 or S24 from Zurich Main train station, then travel for about 15 minutes to Kilchberg train station.
From there, you can walk along the Pilgerweg (green) or take Bus number 163 to Lindt Factory. If you want to know information about Swiss railway ticket passes & all processes, please read this: Swiss Rail Passes.
Journey by Bus & Car
If you want to travel by bus to Zurich Bürkliplatz, take bus number 165. It will take about 30 minutes to reach Rüschlikon, Park im Grüene, which is where we are going. This park is close to the Lindt Chocolate Factory.
If you want to drive, you can use Google Maps for directions.
On the car journey, I shared a secret about the Lindt main car park. It is paid parking, but if you want free parking, you can park in front of the chocolate outlet. It’s just a short walk to the Lindt main building from there.
Inside visit Lindt Chocolate Factory
After entering the door, you look at a map for a factory overview. Here you will take information as a guide. When you go inside the factory, there is a huge crowd.
If you brought our ticket in online, you are hassle-free because there is a big line at the ticket counter. When you enter the hall and pass by the massive chocolate fountain, you’ll find a small film theater at the end, playing a continuous loop about Lindt and the history of chocolate.
That’s you giving information. Of course you need to go to the first giant chocolate fountain.
I have heard that it was the world’s biggest chocolate fountain.
The tour exhibits chocolate production, the history of chocolate in general, & the specific history of Swiss chocolate.
There is also a display of the chocolate production facilities in miniature and a view into an area with real machines.
